Monitoring HTTP Services in a Load Balanced Cluster
Monitoring HTTP Services in a Load Balanced Cluster
We recommend the following approach to monitor web sites availab=
le on a load balanced cluster:
- Install the Uptime Infrastructure Monitor agent on each of your cl=
uster nodes and monitor them with Uptime Infrastructure Monitor to all=
ow for both service monitoring and performance profiling across each cluste=
r node.
- Add an HTTP service monitor to each monitored node using the correct UR=
L and virtual host settings to monitor the status of the web sites on each =
of the nodes.
- Add the Virtual IP for your cluster to Uptime Infrastructure Monit=
or as a Virtual Node Type.
- Add an HTTP service to the Virtual IP element to monitor the overall he=
alth of the web site cluster.
You may also wish to monitor any load balancing network devices or datab=
ases that are associated with the web site.
